Day 49

A little over two weeks ago, a large grass fire broke out in Santa Ynez, California. I was at school at the time, so I did not hear about it until the blaze was pretty large. As fire teams were diverted from the White Fire and this fire was contained, some information was revealed about its exact location and cause.

They later called it the Olive Fire, because it originated on Olive Street, the same street that my home lay on. Luckily, the winds that caused the power lines in the area to touch, short, and cause the fire kept the embers from creating any danger to any of the residences in the immediate area, including mine, which was less than a quarter of a mile away. I am thankful that nobody was hurt  and that the 170 acres of damage was just to private land filled with dry grass. An article with details on the fire.
